1) Create a new layer, select a rectangular area and smooth the corners using Select->Modify->Smooth with a radius of 5 pixels. |

2) Fill your selection with the color of your choice, preferably something dark, as this will be the back cover of your book. |

3) Select Edit->Transform->Persepective and drag the left side of the rectangle down. |

4) Duplicate this layer, fill with white and add a drop shadow with default settings except change the distance to 1. Move down and to the left, as shown. |

5) Duplicate the previously created layer as many times as needed. Offsett each slightly, as shown. |

6) Duplicate the first layer you created and move to the front. |

7) Add a gradient overlay with an angle of 0, blend mode of lighten, opacity of 40%. |

8) Create a new layer just above your first layer (the back cover) and create another filled rectangle the height of the book, as shown. This will be the spine of your book. |

9) Select an elliptical portion of the botton of your spine, as shown. |
![]() |
10) Move this selection to the top of the spine. |
![]() |
11) Again, use the perspective transform tool to warp the spine as shown. |

12) Move the spin into place. If it's too wide, trim excess off the side by using the select tool. Voila! |
