Hardcover Book

1) Create a new layer, select a rectangular area and smooth the corners using Select->Modify->Smooth with a radius of 5 pixels.
2) Fill your selection with the color of your choice, preferably something dark, as this will be the back cover of your book.
3) Select Edit->Transform->Persepective and drag the left side of the rectangle down.
4) Duplicate this layer, fill with white and add a drop shadow with default settings except change the distance to 1. Move down and to the left, as shown.
5) Duplicate the previously created layer as many times as needed. Offsett each slightly, as shown.
6) Duplicate the first layer you created and move to the front.
7) Add a gradient overlay with an angle of 0, blend mode of lighten, opacity of 40%.
8) Create a new layer just above your first layer (the back cover) and create another filled rectangle the height of the book, as shown. This will be the spine of your book.
9) Select an elliptical portion of the botton of your spine, as shown.
10) Move this selection to the top of the spine.
11) Again, use the perspective transform tool to warp the spine as shown.
12) Move the spin into place. If it's too wide, trim excess off the side by using the select tool. Voila!
